In the warm pile of newborn puppies, there was always one lying slightly apart.
She was the smallest.
The quietest.
While her brothers and sisters grew stronger each day, pushing their way toward their mother for milk, she struggled just to keep up.
At fifteen days old, she still looked like she had only just been born.
In the animal world, instinct can be harsh.
Her mother seemed to sense her weakness. The stronger puppies received most of the attention and nourishment. The smallest one was often pushed aside, left at the edge of the nest.
But inside that tiny body, something remarkable was happening.
She kept fighting.
Day after day, she tried to reach the milk she needed, holding on with every bit of strength she had.
When I finally saw her, she was so small that she fit completely in the palm of my hand.
At that moment, I knew one thing.
Her story couldn’t end there.
A Nursery Built for One Tiny Life
My home quickly became her nursery.
An incubator replaced the warmth she had lost. A small bottle replaced the milk she struggled to reach.
She was so fragile that feeding her required constant care.
Every two hours, day and night, the alarm clock would ring.
At three in the morning, the house was completely quiet. The only sound in the room was the gentle suckling of a puppy determined to live.
One small detail stayed with me.
Whenever she drank from the bottle, she lifted one tiny paw and pushed it into the air, as if she were trying to hold something away.
Perhaps she was remembering the struggle with her siblings. Perhaps it was simply instinct.
Either way, I gently patted her back and whispered softly:
“You’re safe now.”

The Day Everything Almost Ended
The fourth day began quietly.
But something felt wrong.
When I reached into the incubator, her body felt stiff. Her breathing was barely noticeable.
Panic set in immediately.
I rushed her to the veterinary hospital, my heart racing the entire drive.
During the ride, she slowly opened one eye.
For a moment, hope returned.
But the eye looked cloudy and pale, a sign that something serious was happening inside her tiny body.
The diagnosis was heartbreaking.
Severe malnutrition.
Despite the constant feeding, her body had been too weak to absorb the nutrients she needed.
She was starving—even with food.
The veterinary team acted quickly. A feeding tube was placed to help deliver nutrients directly to her body, and she was carefully monitored inside a sterile incubator.
All I could do was wait.
And hope.

The Tiny Fighter Named Fubao
Days passed slowly.
Day seven.
Day nine.
Day eighteen.
Gradually, the cloudiness faded from her eyes. Her breathing strengthened. Her body began absorbing the nutrition it had been missing.
The fragile little puppy started to change.
Her once thin body softened, gaining strength and weight. The tiny ghost-like puppy was slowly becoming something new.
We gave her a name.
Fubao—a little treasure.
By the twenty-sixth day, something amazing had happened.
She grabbed the milk bottle with both paws, drinking eagerly as if she knew she had finally turned a corner.
For the first time, she wasn’t just surviving.
She was growing.

A Puppy Full of Life
On the thirty-eighth day, Fubao finally returned home.
The tiny, fragile puppy who once fit in the palm of a hand had transformed into a round, energetic little dog with endless curiosity.
And she had discovered her favorite thing in the world.
Food.
She dives into her bowl with enthusiasm, often burying her entire face inside while eating. Her appetite is enormous for such a small dog.
Unlike the difficult days of her early life, food is now something she enjoys—and even shares with the other dogs in the house.
She also has a little personality.
If she’s placed inside her crate for too long, she protests loudly, chewing the bars and demanding attention.
She wants to play.
She wants affection.
And she receives plenty of both.
The Puppy Who Was Never Supposed to Survive

Watching Fubao today, running around the house with energy and mischief, it’s difficult to remember how fragile she once was.
There was a time when everyone believed she might not make it.
She was the smallest in the litter.
The one pushed aside.
The one who nearly faded away.
But Fubao had other plans.
She didn’t just survive.
She blossomed into a joyful little life—proof that sometimes the smallest fighters carry the biggest strength inside them.
